Manchester Bike Kitchen announce affordable bike maintenance courses

Manchester Bike Kitchen has announced its latest bike maintenance courses, which aim to help cyclists learn how to look after their bikes and carry out basic maintenance. 

Offering basic and intermediate courses will take place in Hiya in Sale’s Stanley Square and have been subsidised by TFGM to keep them affordable. Find out more about the courses below:

Basic Bicycle Maintenance

Learn how to look after your bike and carry out simple maintenance. 

You will learn: 

  • The parts of your bike and what they do

  • What to check before you ride

  • How to adjust the saddle, handlebars, brakes and gears 

  • How to mend punctures

Led by a bike maintenance expert, you'll be in a small group with other beginners in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. It's a hands-on session which will give you the confidence and skills to keep your bike on the move.

  • Various dates

Intermediate Bicycle Maintenance

This course is for you if you have a basic knowledge of bike maintenance, but want to extend your skills to take on more complex tasks and save money on repairs. 

You will learn how to: 

  • Adjust your brakes

  • Adjust and index gears

  • Inspect and replace cables

  • Check and maintain your chain

  • Carry out routine servicing

Led by a cycle maintenance expert, you'll be in a small group with others of similar experience in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. This is an intensive hands-on session which will give you the confidence and skills to keep your bike in top condition.

  • Cost: £30

  • Venue: Manchester Bike Kitchen, Stanley Square, Market Walk, Sale M33 7ZZ

  • Various dates

Please note: You are advised to bring your own bike to any session you attend, but Manchester Bike Kitchen can lend you one if necessary on the day.
