You will be based at libraries across Trafford as part of the Go Digital team and will be provided with all the support and learning resources you need to help your community get online. The aim is to get as many people online as safely as possible and can help with accessing devices, data and digital skills.

What do you need to volunteer as a Digital Champion?

  • Basic digital skills

  • Be enthusiastic about the benefits of being online

  • The desire to help others

  • Good communication skills

  • Patience

The Go Digital team provide a great service to Sale residents including 86-year-old former soldier, Arthur Payne, who attends the classes to enable him to get online, shop on Amazon and contact friends via email.

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “It is very important that all residents across our borough are able to get online to help them stay connected with friends, access the internet and, in some cases, look for work. For this to happen, we need to recruit more Digital Champions to support our Go Digital classes.

“Please consider volunteering a couple of hours a week to give residents the skills they need to get online. You will be doing something really great and helping so many people – like Arthur.”

Digital Champions are asked to volunteer for two hours per week at Go Digital sessions held in Trafford libraries across the borough. If you are interested in taking part, there are several Induction Training Days set to take place throughout September and November.

If you’d like to find out more about becoming a Digital Champion, complete the Expression of Interest form or call 07724 217888.
