Cork of the North (COTN) has an exciting announcement for wine enthusiasts: the launch of their very own ‘Cork of the North Vinho Verde’.

This new addition marks a significant milestone for the local wine shop and bar, showcasing their ambition and dedication to expanding their impact in the wine world.

A taste of Portugal

Crafted at the renowned Casa de Vila Nova winery in Sousa, located in Northern Portugal's Vinho Verde region, this exclusive cuvee is the first of COTN’s own-production wines. The wine is a blend of three grape varieties – Loureiro, Avesso, and Arinto – all harvested by hand from the vineyards of Casa de Vila Nova's estate near Penafiel. These vineyards benefit from the Atlantic Ocean's winds and unique soil and microclimate, contributing to the wine's distinct character.

Described as "sunshine in a glass," COTN’s wine is said to feature floral, citrus and gentle tropical aromas. On the palate, it offers an off-dry profile with ripe melon flavours and a refreshing sherbet lemon acidity, finishing with a classic spritz. This vibrant white wine is perfect as an aperitif, pairing beautifully with salads, sushi, or grilled fish, but it’s equally delightful to enjoy on its own.

Now available at Cork of the North

Wine lovers can now enjoy the Vinho Verde by the glass at Cork of the North Sale (and Heaton Moor, if you’re travelling a little further afield) or purchase it to take away from their shops at a special introductory price of £10.99 per bottle. It is also available for online orders through their website.

Cork of the North Sale celebrated its eighth birthday earlier this year and has long-established itself as a beloved local wine shop and bar. In 2023, they were honoured with the 'Food and Drink Retailer of the Year’ award at the Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards
