Woman, 33, arrested after child sexually assaulted in café
A woman has been arrested after a girl was reportedly sexually assaulted at the counter of a café in Sale Moor.
Police said the attack happened at a café on Northenden Road between around 11am and 11.50am last Saturday (19 October). Officers believe the child was approached by an adult while they were waiting at the counter with their parent.
An investigation into the incident was launched, though the victim and her parent have not yet come forward to police. A 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a female under 16.
She has since been bailed pending further investigations, Greater Manchester Police said today (23 October). Officers are now appealing for the parent to get in contact with police.
The police also want to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.
"Officers have followed up on several lines of investigation and are now in the position to ask for the public’s assistance as we continue to appeal for the victim and her parent to come forward and speak to us", the force said in an appeal.
