The Moorfield will reopen as a Greene King-branded pub with a new identity, The Sale, renamed to celebrate the listed building, which was once a hotel.

The venue will return to its roots to assert the rebrand as a new lease of life for the pub, reaffirming the popular Sale location as a central community space. As part of the refurbishment, the pub will receive a brand-new menu, as well as a revitalised look and feel throughout.

Chris Hughes, general manager of The Moorfield said: “The whole team is so excited for the Moorfield to undertake this major overhaul, and we can’t wait to reopen just in time for the summer.

“We will remain the local community pub we have always been, and we can’t wait to welcome guests, both old and new, back to check out our new offering!

“The revamp will bring a revived atmosphere to the pub, and we’re confident that with our improved facilities, we’ll be proud to offer our guests an even better drinking, dining and social experience.”

The pub will reopen to the public on Friday 12 July following completion of its major refurbishment to both the inside and outside of the pub.

The Moorfield is not just any pub; its building is a historical gem in Sale. Built in 1878, it was originally part of the Moorfield/Sale Botanical Gardens, a Victorian pleasure park. Back then, it was known as The Sale Hotel and served as the centrepiece for the botanical gardens, a popular attraction that featured a ballroom, gardens, lake, cycle track, lawn tennis and croquet grounds, bowling green and gym. Although the botanical gardens closed in 1896, the building has continued to serve the community as a pub for many years.
