This year’s Sale Moor Christmas light switch-on is scheduled for Friday 15 November (date TBC) and thanks to the community's generous support, this year's lights will bring extra sparkle and festive cheer, illuminating the village streets throughout the season until Twelfth Night and Epiphany in January.

Local community group, We Are Sale Moor, which organises the annual display, announced that the lights are more vibrant and abundant this year, all made possible by enthusiastic community contributions. Funds raised through the Sale Moor Village lottery, as well as donations collected from tins placed in local shops, covered the cost of the display, totalling £4,500. This allowed for additional lights, essential repairs and secure storage for future years.

Andrea Law, chairperson of We Are Sale Moor, expressed her gratitude to the community: “We're thrilled to see how the community has embraced our lottery and come together to make this year's display the biggest it’s been for quite some time.

“The lights not only bring festive cheer but also highlight the strong community spirit that defines Sale Moor.”

The community's support has gone beyond the lights, as funds raised through the lottery will also help keep Sale Moor’s flower boxes blooming all year round, ensuring the village remains vibrant from season to season.

Residents and visitors are warmly encouraged to enjoy the festive atmosphere in Sale Moor, take in the lights and support local businesses during this magical time of year.

You can still get involved in the Sale Moor lottery to help support future community projects. Plus, if you’re keen to hear more about upcoming community projects in Sale Moor, or are keen to volunteer, join We Are Sale Moor on Facebook
