Coronation street party numbers for Sale down compared with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Fewer coronation street parties will be held in M33 next week compared to the number of celebrations that took place for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The bunting was hung for more than 20 neighbourhood events across Sale last June to toast Queen Elizabeth's 70-year reign. But there have been fewer requests for street parties received by Trafford Council this year according to figures just released, with only seven parties and road closures taking place in M33.

While this might be considered a royal snub, we are aware of other unofficial street parties set to take place. And there are other reasons why street parties might not be seen in such great numbers this year. The ongoing cost of living crisis and high inflation rates are making people reluctant to host events, 'organiser apathy' among those that took responsibility for events in their communities last year, combined with a much larger appetite in 2022 for social gatherings after so much social distancing and separation caused by Covid-19.
