Sale Festival launches photo competition for 2024

Sale Festival has launched this year’s Sale Photographic competition.

Sale Festival returns to M33 in June 2024

This year’s competition theme is ‘Motion, Movement and Action’ and four cash prizes are up for grabs for the chosen winners and runners-up.

Taking place across Sale throughout June, Sale Festival is a month-long event with a packed schedule of activities.

This photography competition is open to amateur photographers only and each photographer can submit up to four prints. All entries must be submitted by Monday 27 May.

The promotional material for the competition explains the theme, ‘Motion, Movement and Action’:

“‘Motion, Movement, and Action’, what does it mean? Well basically, it's anything that moves or is active. It could be a person, an animal or bird, an aircraft, a car, flowing water, or anything else you care to think of that epitomises the theme!

“Sport typifies ‘Motion, Movement and Action’ and the possibilities are limitless – such as rugby, football, swimming, running, a boat race, horse racing etc. All great examples of "Motion, Movement and Action".

“Wherever you go in Britain, you’ll find examples of ‘Motion, Movement and Action’ and you won't have to travel far to encounter great shots – and we would love to see them.”

If you are an enthusiastic amateur photographer, or just happen to have snapped an action shot while out and about, why not submit an entry into this year’s competition? You can find a full rundown of the rules and how to enter over at salefestival.org.uk.

The winning prints, runners-up and a selection of other notable photos will be exhibited at Hiya in Stanley Square for four weeks after the competition judging, giving locals a chance to pop in and take a look.

Prizes to be won

There will be three prizes for the senior competition:

  • First prize £100

  • Second prize £50

  • Third prize £25

The winner of the junior competition (up to 16 years old) will receive a prize of £50.
