ReFind Creations: New opening to bring upcycled home decor to Sale

Chapel Road in Sale is set to welcome a new addition this week with the opening of ReFind Creations, a home decor unit specialising in quirky, upcycled items made from reclaimed materials.

Owner Gaz Jamieson-Jones, who also runs a security company, embraced his creative streak during the 2020 lockdown when business slowed. Working from his garden shed in Northern Moor, Gaz began turning discarded wood and other materials into one-of-a-kind homeware.

“I’ve always been quite handy and thought, why not use that to create something?” said Gaz.

“I like to think my items are quirky and different. As I use reclaimed materials, no two things are ever the same. I like to keep things raw and the feedback from market customers has been very positive.”

After selling his creations at local markets in recent years, Gaz jumped at the opportunity to take over the unit on Chapel Road previously occupied by Touchwood Designs, which closed earlier this month.

“Up to now, I’ve only had to think about the space on a couple of market tables, so my creations have had to stay small,” Gaz explains. “With all the additional space this unit offers, I can start making bigger items.”

ReFind Creations is open to the public six days a week, with Gaz working from an on-site studio. The store features handmade items such as candle holders, clocks, shelving, chopping boards, table lamps and coat hooks – many crafted from reclaimed materials.

Gaz’s passion for sourcing materials is evident. “I’ve become an expert at scouring everywhere for materials – I’m obsessed with it!” he laughs. “I’ve made things from offcuts that people were throwing away and I’ve built great connections with sawmills and wood merchants who now call me when they’ve got scraps. It’s amazing what you can find when you look!”

While Gaz will focus on expanding ReFind Creations, Vicky Mulligan, owner of Touchwood Designs, will continue to work on furniture commissions from the space on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Monday-Tuesday, 10am-3pm and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-6pm (closed Thursday).
