Neighbourhood Gallery is set to take over an empty unit in Stanley Square for a special pop up art gallery.

Throughout October, Neighbourhood Gallery will host a month-long exhibition plus a variety of workshops, an art talk and will also be selling art prints.

The pop up will include an art exhibition, 'Evolving Horizons' and a night of artist talks.  Neighbourhood Gallery co-owner and exhibition curator, Domino Panton-Oakley, will speak alongside a selection of exhibiting artists who will have the chance to tell the audience more about themselves and present their work, their ideas and the inspirations behind their pieces.

The gallery will also host a variety of workshops, where visitors can create their own unique artwork and be inspired by the exhibition. These workshops will give people a chance to learn new techniques and skills and enjoy a social evening whilst making art.

Currently operating under the name Cotton On MCR, the Manchester arts organisation is growing and is hoping to open its own art gallery, calling this ‘Neighbourhood Gallery’. They hope that this pop up will give people the opportunity to see what they will offer when they have a permanent space, both in terms of the artwork and events they'll host also. They hope to raise awareness of their plans and raise some money to go towards the costs of setting up their own space.

Speaking ahead of the gallery’s launch, Domino said; “We are so excited for this pop up! Having this space is a huge step forward in our plans to one day open up our own, more permanent gallery. We are excited to curate the exhibition and believe that our exhibitions really show a huge variety of art. We know that art galleries can sometimes come across as unwelcoming, elitist-type venues, but we want to change that.

“We want our gallery to be an open, friendly and welcoming space and that's why, alongside the exhibitions, we aim to host a variety of workshops, to get a variety of people through the door and involved in their local art scene!

“We can't wait to do the pop up in Sale. I grew in up in Sale and have seen it change and evolve over the years and it is now a perfect mix of high-street shops and independent venues. It really is becoming a creative space in itself and I think it's a fantastic opportunity for us to show what we can do in the heart of Sale.”
