The announcement was made on social media yesterday (05 January), where Katy and Stephen shared their excitement about their new venture. Hops & Boogie, located in Stanley Square, is known for its unique combination of bar and vinyl store. The pair expressed their gratitude to the close-knit team, who they described as “like family.”

“We are super proud of all of them and equally excited for the next chapter,” they wrote, adding that the team has embraced the change with open arms.

Katy and Stephen, both Sale residents, are already known in the community as the founders of Lucky Bee Gin, a locally distilled gin made from their Ashton upon Mersey home. Their passion for supporting local businesses and their established roots in the area make this transition especially positive for Sale’s thriving independent scene.

Exciting changes ahead

The duo announced that Hops & Boogie has temporarily closed its doors until 15 January for a “little glow-up.” They’ve hinted at improvements inspired by customer feedback, promising a refreshed Hops & Boogie experience while retaining the same team, led by bar manager Simon Waind.

“We hope to bring you everything you’ve asked for,” they said, inviting the community to stay tuned for details of the bar’s relaunch in the coming weeks.

Supporting local businesses in Sale

This change of ownership is an example of how Sale’s independent businesses can flourish, with locals stepping up to invest in and develop beloved community spots. Katy and Stephen’s deep ties to the area are expected to bring fresh energy to one of Sale's best independent bars.

Hops & Boogie’s reopening is set to be one of the most exciting dates on Sale’s social calendar this January. Keep an eye out for updates on their relaunch – it promises to be a celebration of everything that makes Stanley Square such a vibrant destination.
