Game on! £6k cash boost for Sale disability charity
Everyone Can, the Sale-based charity that provides specially adapted video gaming to disabled children and adults, is delighted to have received a donation of £6,285 from the Morrisons Foundation.
Richard Bull, fundraiser at Everyone Can said: “We’re really grateful for the Morrisons Foundation’s donation towards our Everyone Can Game project. This will mean we can help even more disabled people to join in playing video games at our centre, having fun and making new friends.”
The Sale-based charity helps thousands of disabled people access computers and technology, adapting modern video gaming equipment to the needs of disabled people, with four different weekly sessions for up to 30 people being held at their facility.
Carlie O’Brien, community champion at the Morrisons store in Chorlton said: “I had the absolute pleasure of visiting EveryoneCan in Sale and I could not believe all the gaming equipment they make and design for individuals who can’t use the regular handheld game controllers and, honestly, I think they are amazing!
“Not only do they have an area for the older kids to game and relax, they also have a sensory area if children with SEN get overstimulated. Additionally, there’s a small area for parents to sit to have a brew and catch up with other parents or just have a moment’s break for themselves.
“This is definitely a place that needs more awareness made about them, because not only does it help people with disabilities to carry on gaming but they also allow a sibling or best friend without disabilities to come along too.
“I’m absolutely over the moon that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help such a wonderful cause in our community.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching, over £40 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
