This year’s results highlight particular success in Extended Diplomas, with 53 per cent of students achieving three Distinctions or higher in subjects such as Sport, Construction, Business Studies and Digital Media. An exceptional 11 per cent of these students secured the highest possible grade of DDD*. Additionally, 83 per cent of students earned three Merits, underscoring the strong academic performance at the sixth form.

Students are now poised to take their next steps, with many securing places at universities including Manchester Metropolitan University, Sheffield Hallam and Chester. Others have opted for higher apprenticeships in sectors like construction and finance, while one student is excitedly anticipating a scholarship opportunity in Kansas.

Headteacher Lee McConaghie expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, saying, “It is always delightful to see the smiling faces of students as they receive the all-important grades that will move them to their next chosen destination. These outcomes only happen because of the drive and hard work that students show throughout their time in the sixth form.

“I am proud of their success and wish this next generation of students the very best as they move forward.”

Ashton on Mersey Sixth Form plans to expand its offerings in September 2024, providing an even broader range of A-Levels and vocational courses to meet the needs of its growing student body.
