Sale FC, one of the world's oldest rugby union clubs, is opening its doors to the younger generation this weekend, inviting them to discover the exhilarating world of rugby in a free and fun event.

Hosted by Sale FC 1861 Girls, the Allianz Inner Warrior Camp will take place on Sunday (29 October) from 11.30am-1pm at the Sale FC Rugby Training Ground (M31 4AE).

Sale FC's commitment to nurturing girls' and ladies' rugby has been remarkable, with the adult ladies' team, Sale FC 1861, making significant strides in recent years. They achieved promotion to the Women’s Championship North 1 Division last season and they currently maintain an unbeaten record in the second tier of women's rugby in England.

To ensure the long-term success of Sale FC 1861, the club needs one vital element: future players. This event aims to provide young girls aged 11-17 with the opportunity to explore rugby for the first time, regardless of their prior experience or fitness level. The session will be non-contact and designed for girls who have never played before or those looking to return to the sport. The event kicks off at 11.30am, with the session itself beginning at noon. There's no long-term commitment required; it's simply a chance to explore the sport and see if it resonates. For those who are interested, regular training is held on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Emily Scarratt, centre for England Red Roses and Loughborough Lightning, knows how important it is to inspire more women and girls to try rugby union and recommends England Rugby’s Allianz Inner Warrior camps as a fun way to introduce people to the game.

“They’re brilliant, they’ve been going for a few years now. I’ve been lucky enough over previous years to get down to some camps and help out,” she said.

“These camps are designed to welcome girls into rugby, with no judgement and no pressure. It’s a great opportunity to try something different, meet new people and get active with like-minded individuals.” she continued.

The event is open to all and registration is free. Additionally, the clubhouse will be open for food and drinks throughout the afternoon and parents or guardians are encouraged to stay and watch.

After the camp, attendees can also stay to watch Sale FC 1861 Ladies in action as they aim to continue their unbeaten streak in the Women's Championship North 1, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.
