The event takes place from 9.30am-2.30pm and will see a number of clubs from across the UK race the course from Altrincham to Walton Park in Sale.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of athletes in boats, with the aim being to see who is the quickest across the 3.1km course. Some rowers will be aiming to break the current record, while less experienced rowers can complete a shorter course that starts at Timperley Bridge.

Graham Whistance, chairman of Trafford Rowing Club said, “We are looking forward to welcoming all the athletes to Trafford.

“Most rowing events are on wide rivers but the Bridgewater Canal with the towpath running alongside the course will give local residents the ability to be right alongside the action. You can watch the crews anywhere along the course, with the finishing line being close to Walton Park.

“It's a great day out for the family!”
