Following the runaway success of their previous production, Austen’s Women, this new adaptation of Jane Austen’s first full-length novel promises to be just as captivating, with five-star reviews already rolling in.

Celebrating 15 years of touring excellence across the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and the USA, Dyad Productions is renowned for its innovative adaptations of classic literature. With Lady Susan, they return to the works of Jane Austen, offering a fresh and wickedly funny take on a tale that delves deep into the complexities of Regency society.

Lady Susan introduces audiences to the titular character, a young, fortune-hunting widow navigating the treacherous waters of 18th-century social conventions. Played by Rebecca Vaughan, Lady Susan is a charming and cunning figure, determined to secure her future by any means necessary – including wooing not one, but two wealthy suitors. But behind her beguiling exterior lies a sharp intellect and a talent for manipulation, making her a force to be reckoned with.

The play also shines a spotlight on the other women in Lady Susan’s orbit: her oppressed and rebellious daughter, Frederica; her long-suffering sister-in-law, Catherine; the formidable family matriarch, Mrs. De Courcy; and her best friend, Alicia. Each character grapples with their own desires and the strict societal expectations imposed upon them, leading to a darkly comic exploration of power, ambition, and the roles women were expected to play.

Directed by Andrew Margerison, Lady Susan is a masterclass in female empowerment and wit, offering a sharp, funny and unapologetically honest reflection on the rigid constraints of Regency society. Audiences can expect a whirlwind of Georgian-era intrigue, humour and drama, brought to life with Dyad Productions’ signature style and flair.
