A LOOK INSIDE: Cups Cake & More, Ashton upon Mersey
Ashton upon Mersey has a new reason to celebrate with the arrival of Cups Cake & More, a charming cake and coffee spot on Green Lane.
Owned and run by local resident Sam Walker, the business opened last week and has already been warmly welcomed by the community.
For Sam, opening Cups Cake & More has been a labour of love. Although she took on the lease two years ago, the timing had to be just right. With a background in hotel and catering and a lifelong passion for baking, she is excited to bring something special to the heart of Ashton village.
“I’ve always been a baker,” Sam said. Eight years ago, she took a cake decorating course which reignited her creative spark and she hasn’t looked back since. Now, with Cups Cake & More, Sam has created a space where her love for cakes and coffee can flourish – and where locals can meet, work and unwind.
While coffee and cakes are the heart of the business, Cups Cake & More is about so much more. Sam offers bespoke celebration cakes for special occasions and there’s potential for an expanded menu in the future that could include desserts if the demand is there. For now, she’s focused on seeing how the business grows over the next 12 months.
“I’d love to see the space become a real hub for the community,” Sam told Life in Sale. Plans for the future include a book club, school holiday activities for children and private event hire – all ideas that will bring people together.
A community hub in the making
It’s clear that Sam has big ambitions for Cups Cake & More, but her vision remains grounded in serving Ashton upon Mersey. The welcoming atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to meet friends, enjoy a quiet coffee or even get some work done, with Wi-Fi available for customers. A loyalty scheme is also in the works, offering even more reason to pop by regularly.
Sam’s long-term dream includes expanding the space to accommodate even more customers, but for now, she’s content to let her cakes (and coffee) do the talking.
Ashton upon Mersey village has gained a local gem that’s a little different and full of personality. Whether you’re popping in for a slice of cake, meeting friends or simply enjoying a moment to yourself, Sam’s new venture is set to become a much-loved fixture in the community.
