Work to prepare site of former Sale Magistrates Court begins
It’s been a long time coming, but work is now taking place to prepare the site of the former Sale Magistrates Court for the building of new homes.
Residents living near the one-hectare site on Ashton Lane will notice increased activity as work continues on the site ahead of plans for the new development.
Trafford Council granted planning permission for the building of 84 new homes last year – including 21 affordable properties made up of 13 flats for affordable rent, and eight houses for shared ownership.
Trafford Council bought the site from Homes England with a view to redevelopment and specifically the building of new residential property close to the town centre.
Councillor Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “This is a flagship scheme in the centre of the town and I am pleased to say it meets the Council’s policy of building more housing on brownfield sites, including affordable homes. Residents will notice that there is a lot of activity on site as workmen prepare it for development.
“As a council we are always pushing for the building of new and affordable homes in the borough as, like every other area in the UK, there is a shortage.”
