Trafford Rowing Club celebrates record junior success and plans for growth

Trafford Rowing Club is celebrating a landmark achievement, with a record-breaking ten of its junior rowers selected to represent the North West in competition.

The club, based in Walton Park, Sale, has always over-achieved based on its size, but this year’s selection marks a significant leap from the usual three or four rowers chosen in previous years. It’s a testament to the club’s reputation for developing top-tier athletes, despite its relatively small size.

Chairman Graham Whistance praised the young rowers for their dedication and hard work. “To have ten of our juniors representing the North West is an incredible achievement,” he said. “It really showcases the strength of our training programme and the determination of our rowers. We are incredibly proud of Leo, Seb, Erin, Tabby, Martha, Ava, Sam M, Sam C, Gloria and Rebecca, and we are excited to see them compete at the national level with the best in the country.”

With increasing interest in the sport, Trafford Rowing Club is now looking to expand its facilities to better support its growing number of athletes. Additional equipment, coaching resources and improved infrastructure are needed to accommodate the next generation of rowers.

“We have a fantastic community at Trafford Rowing Club, but our current facilities limit us,” Whistance added. “With the right support and investment, we can continue to provide opportunities for young rowers to excel.”

The club is actively seeking funding and support from local businesses, sponsors and the community to help make the expansion a reality. Anyone interested in contributing or learning more about the club’s plans can contact chairman@traffordrowing.club.
