Local 14-year-old to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for charity

Seb Hines and his father Tim are embarking on a 900-mile cycle in April to raise money for two different charities.

A local teenage boy and his father have set themselves the challenge of cycling the entire length of the country (a journey affectionately known as ‘LeJog’) in an attempt to raise £1,000 for Dogs 4 Rescue and Street Hearts Bulgaria, two charities that are very close to their hearts.

Seb was inspired to take on the challenge after seeing endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont give a talk at Sale’s Waterside. Mark did ‘LeJog’ when he was 15 years old, so Seb has set his sights on completing it this year, as he doesn’t turn 15 until October!

Seb and Tim, who are both keen cyclists, initially undertook the mission to go on an adventure. However, they soon realised that they had the potential to do some good and raise some money for their chosen charities. Dogs 4 Rescue, based in Irlam and Street Hearts BG, a Bulgarian charity, have been selected as they were the charities to bring their much-loved rescue dogs, Wolfie and Berry (pictured below), into their family.

The teen’s journey begins on the 4 April and will be supported by his mum, Claire Hines, owner of Shine at Emporium M33 and his younger brother.

Speaking ahead of the challenge, Seb said, “I can’t wait to take on this fun and exciting challenge. I love cycling and to be able to raise money for these two fantastic charities is the cherry on top! I would like other people to have dogs that are as nice as ours.”
