Sale Festival returns for 2024 with promise of “new performers”
Sale Festival is set to return this year, promising a diverse array of events and performances throughout June 2024. Organisers have hinted at an eclectic mix of entertainment, catering to a wide range of tastes and ages.
Steve Hodkinson, chair of Sale Festival, told Life in Sale: "The 2024 festival is progressing nicely with new performers." He emphasised the inclusion of offerings for younger audiences alongside more traditional fare such as ballet and opera. Notably, this year will see the Festival debut of musician and comedian Amy Webber, who has been making waves on the festival circuit and as a composer.
The festival's announcement, made on social media yesterday (07 April), provided a sneak peek into what attendees can expect. Among the highlights are ‘Minifest’, a family-friendly rock gig, performances from Amy Webber and a world wine-tasting masterclass led by Cork of the North Sale. Additionally, there will be a celebration of Irish culture featuring music and dance, a ballet night featuring acclaimed performers and an opera presentation of 'The Marriage of Figaro' at Waterside.
Art enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy with a strong emphasis on brass, jazz and classical music. History talks, a local poetry trail, Sale Comic Con, choirs, drama and film screenings will also be part of the festival's diverse offerings.
While the full schedule of events is yet to be released, festival organisers encourage locals to stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks.
With such a promising lineup of entertainment and cultural experiences, Sale Festival is poised to be a highlight of the summer calendar. So get ready to join in the festivities!
