Police appeal for witnesses after young girl attacked by dog in Brooklands

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are appealing for information after a nine-year-old girl was attacked by a dog in Brooklands, Sale.

The incident occurred at approximately 6.40pm on Thursday 27 February, on playing fields running alongside Ashstead Road and Croft Road. The young girl was approached and attacked by what has been described as a large black dog.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are believed to be life-changing.

GMP has launched an investigation and is urging anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have seen a large black dog to come forward. Officers are also keen to identify the owner of the dog.

Additional police patrols have been deployed in the area to carry out searches and engage with the local community. Residents with any concerns are encouraged to speak to officers on duty.
