Why it matters: Over 1.5 billion people celebrate the international holiday, which takes place on 29 January 2025. 

2025 is the year of the snake. So if you were born in 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965 or 1953, this is your year! 

Here are three ways to celebrate the Year of the Snake in Sale, M33:

Stalls, Dragon Dance and Raffle

Brought to you by Collaborative Hong Kong Women CIC, this enchanting ‘Dragon Dance’ returns to Sale in 2025 at 1pm. From 10am, there will be stalls, plus a Lunar New Year Lucky Draw. Attendees who pick up a free raffle ticket will have a chance of winning a prize.  


Chinese New Year Crafts and Trail
🗓️ Sunday 02 February, 1.30-2pm and 2.15-2.45pm 
🎟️ Free - now fully booked 
📍 Market Walk, Stanley Square Sale M33 7ZZ

Children can make their own paper-based snake ahead of the dragon ribbon dance in Stanley Square at 2.30pm. Plus, make themed lunar greetings cards to give to someone special. There are also six snakes hiding in Market Walk, find them all, answer the fact-finding quiz and complete an activity sheet. Activities brought to you by Our Kids Social


Chinese Lion Dance
