Expanded audiology services now open in Sale
Audiology experts in Sale have expanded their services to now offer ear wax removal to the community.

Specsavers is now offering clinics in Sale, Altrincham and Urmston with a fully trained wax practitioner to professionally remove excess ear wax which may be causing discomfort or impaired hearing.
The Sale Hearing Centre, based in Stanley Square, has invested in its employees to undergo an intense training course that allowed them to become fully trained in the health of ears and the removal of wax.
The team use a small suction tube and probe to gently remove excess wax in your ear to help relieve any discomfort.
Anum Saleemi, audiology director at Specsavers Sale, says: “Amazingly our ears biologically self-clean and ear wax helps to maintain the health of our ears. But problems can occasionally arise, especially when items such as cotton buds or earplugs are inserted into the ear. This interferes with the ear’s natural cleaning process and pushes wax and debris further into the ear, which can cause build-up or a blockage of the ear canal.
“Wax build-up can be worrying. It can cause temporary deafness, feelings of fullness and disorientation. It also makes it very difficult to perform accurate hearing tests, so this new service means customers can have everything managed at the same time, and without the need to refer a customer to their GP, relieving pressure on the NHS and taking away the hassle of re-booking a test.
“If you notice any of the symptoms of impacted wax, including sudden or partial hearing loss, tinnitus, a feeling of fullness in the ear or earache, then we advise you to visit one of our audiologists in-store who can help resolve the issue. We also recommend that anyone over the age of 55 has a hearing test every year as part of a regular health care routine.”
The cost of the wax removal procedure is £50, whether it’s one or both ears that need treating and includes any further follow-ups that are required.
The audiology services, including advice on wax and maintenance along with the removal services, are now available six days a week.
