Sale coffee shop closure blamed on soaring rent, food and energy costs

Bianco Pizza & Coffee has announced its permanent closure after a decade on Hereford Street in Sale.

The team behind the coffee and pizza shop announced the closure this evening (21 January) on social media, saying:

"It is with much sadness that we have taken the extremely hard decision to close the doors to Bianco permanently as of today the 21st January 2024.

"Over the past decade, we‘ve been proud to serve Sale, but despite our best efforts and wonderful customers, the spiraling (sic) costs associated with hospitality in particular, rent, food, and soaring energy costs have made it impossible for us to continue.

"We’re deeply grateful to the staff and want to thank them for being part of the Bianco family over the last ten years. Their hard work and commitment have been invaluable and we thank each and every one of them who have been on this journey with us.

"We give our heartfelt thanks to you, the customers, for your loyalty to us over the years and trust you’ll continue to support local independent businesses in Sale. Without you, they too will flounder in these particularly difficult times."

Bianco Pizza & Coffee Sale was a large unit popular with locals.

Friends and loyal customers have flooded their social media posts with support after the announcement.

Bianco Pizza's second unit, which was opened by proprietor Giovanni D’Andrea under a railway arch on Viaduct Road in Altrincham in 2022, is set to remain open.

Bianco Pizza & Coffee was a firm Sale favourite – we are very sorry to see it go.
