Comedy, adventure and animation: What’s on at Waterside this February half-term

Looking for things to do with the kids in Sale this February half term? 

The popular Waterside has a programme of family-friendly shows and exhibitions running across the holiday, including comedy shows, animation workshops and a penguin-themed adventure play for young ones.

Tango’s Big Adventure

Join Tango the penguin on her exciting adventure through Central Park Zoo. Based on the true story that inspired the much-loved book And Tango Makes Three, this brand-new play uses puppetry and comedy to celebrate difference and diversity.

Madame Zuzu is the greatest zookeeper in the world and she brings to life the story of Tango – a baby penguin raised by Roy and Silo, two male Chin-strap penguins. Tango grows up and sets off on an adventure across the zoo, meeting some extraordinary animals along the way.

Introduction to Animation Workshop 

Saturday 18th February, 10.30am and 1.30pm

Suitable for all ages from age 8+
90 – 120 mins

Explore how to animate hand-drawn pictures and create moving images from a set of drawings in this Introduction to Animation workshop. By the end of the session, each participant will take home their own digital animation and set of drawings.

All materials are included. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Little kids are guaranteed plenty of silly songs, stories and adventures in ComedySportz for Tots and in the later show, two teams of comedians will go for gold with quick-witted gags, games, sketches and songs in this all-improvised show. Who wins? You decide!

Celebrating 30 years of the Altrincham-based animation studio, this exhibition is testament to the skill and artistry of these incredible local animators and model-makers, who have brought so many iconic characters and wonderful stories to life, from Pinocchio to Corpse Bride, Bob the Builder & Fantastic Mr Fox.
