The Marsland Road reopened to the public on Friday 12 July following a significant six-figure renovation designed to revitalise the Grade II-listed site and give it a new look and feel. The extensive refurbishment has led to an additional 100 outdoor covers available.

It has a new look and a new name – The Sale – in a nod to its history as The Sale Hotel. Previously a Hungry Horse pub, The Sale has been brought back into the Greene King brand.

The fully refurbished function room can accommodate up to 50 guests, making it perfect for weddings, sports events, business meetings, and various gatherings.

The improved drinks menu now features a premium range of beers, including Greene King favourites like Madri, Level Head, Neck Oil, Aspall and Estrella and the revamped food offering includes summer specials such as pulled beef rib and beer croquettes, marmalade pork loin steak and truffle mushroom chicken schnitzel.

Other exciting additions include Steak Thursdays starting at £11.50 and a newly added Sunday lunch. Quiz nights will take place every Tuesday at 9pm to bring the community together and a new trader’s market will be held on the last Sunday of every month from 10am to 4pm, starting on 28 July.

To celebrate the grand reopening, The Sale will host a lively neighbourhood garden party for the community running from 19–21 July. The festivities will culminate on the Sunday with an acoustic performance in a relaxed live lounge setting from 2pm to 4pm.

This special acoustic session will become a monthly tradition, taking place on the last Sunday of every month, offering a perfect way to unwind and enjoy live music in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Chris Hughes, general manager of The Sale said, "We’re so excited to reopen our doors and we can’t wait to welcome our customers both old and new to our improved establishment. With our revamped look and feel, we're all about providing exceptional service and delicious food.

“The revamp has brought a revived atmosphere to the pub, and we’ll remain the local community pub that we always have been, we can’t wait to offer our guests an even better dining, drinking and social experience than before!”

The investment has also generated numerous jobs in the local community, adding 30 new staff members.

Throughout the year, The Sale will be launching a social club designed to help people make new friends and socialise. Additionally, The Sale will host Macmillan events to raise money for charity, further establishing itself as a vital and supportive hub for the community.
